Randonnee La Castellane Grimaud

La Castellane hike

Get ready for a pleasant stroll between plains and hills, with splendid views over the village of Grimaud.

This walk in Grimaud starts from the Tourist Office.

Walk along the building opposite the Heritage Museum, turn left and walk down the Chemin de l’Enclos. After 350 m, turn right downhill at the first intersection. A few steps further, a bend to the left leads you to the Chemin de la Castellane, a land steeped in medieval history.

Crossing the Quartier de la Réparade , you come to a right-hand bend, marked by a 19th-century family vault that bears witness to the local history of two Grimaud lineages.

Continue straight on towards the Vicairie district and, after 400 m, an intersection invites you to turn left onto Chemin Mignonne, heading towards the heart of the village. Continue along a vast meadow, then up a path, before reaching the Route Nationale. Turn left in front of the Beausoleil building, which was the village’s first inn in 1875. The Route Nationale takes you back to your starting point, bringing your tour to a close in front of the Tourist Office.

Le Pierredon hike

This hike is an opportunity to discover the vallon de la Garde, a testimony to the past with its three vanished watermills and windmill, which were once the heart of local life in this corner of the Var.

This hike in Grimaud starts from the parking lot under the Moulin Saint Roch, 4.5 km from our campsite in the Var.

Follow the Pont des Fées discovery trail. After crossing the Pont des Fées, at the intersection, continue straight ahead without climbing up to the mill and pass the large wooden gate. Go downhill and, after 50 m, ford the torrent de La Garde.

On your left, you’ll see an old olive grove and an 18th-century country house.

Further on, take the footbridge to the right to cross the river and follow the asphalt road. After a 500-metre climb, follow the Route Nationale to the Tourist Office. You’re back where you started.

Randonnee La Calade

La Calade hiking trail

During this nature walk, you’ll discover the torrent de la Garde, green hills, the Oratoire Saint Joseph and the old road linking the village of Grimaud.

Leave from the parking lot below the Moulin Saint Roch. The start of the circuit follows that of the Le Pierredon hike. At the footbridge, continue straight ahead along the river.

Cabanons nestling in the heart of the vineyards line your route. 700 meters further on, take the bridge that leads to the Chemin de La Calade, a Provencal term for a paved path.

After a 700-meter ascent, the Saint Joseph Oratory is revealed before your very eyes.

The road in front of you is the old road between Grimaud and Sainte-Maxime. Follow it until you reach the Route Nationale. Follow this road in the direction of the tourist office.

Histoire Pont Fees Grimaud

Vallon du Pont des Fées hike

Awarded the “Sentier Varois de Qualité” label, this itinerary offers an experience rich in discovery. This loop invites you to explore the natural and historical heritage of the La Garde valley, including Le Pont des Fées and the Saint Roch windmill.

Park in the Parking du Cimetière, below the Moulin Saint Roch. From the parking lot, head for the start sign. Turn left at the 1st signpost and follow the discovery trail. At the Pont des Fées, continue to the right, following the path along the river. If you’re lucky, you may spot the Cistude or Herman’s turtle.

Take the stony path up to Moulin Saint Roch. At the top, enjoy the splendid panorama of Grimaud’s medieval castle and the surrounding area.

Then head back down south to the parking lot.

Cycling along the Grimaud coastline

Do you prefer cycling to walking? Then check out this itinerary for cycling in Grimaud !

This is the Parcours Cyclable du Littoral Six-Fours/Saint Raphaël. The route alternates between the Var coastline and inland incursions.

The route follows the old Provence railroad line and serves 20 communes, revealing a mosaic of landscapes and a wealth of flora. The route is being developed over time, and currently covers 92 km of the 120 km planned, including 77 km specifically for cyclists. As some sections of the route between Six-Fours and Saint Raphaël are still being finalized, you’ll have to get onto roads with heavy traffic at times.

The section through Grimaud is a mixed segment, stretching for around 5.5 km. Beyond the Giscle bridge, the route leads to Guerrevieille beach and continues in the direction of Sainte-Maxime for the same distance. During this walk in Grimaud, you can admire the village of Vieux Grimaud, the lakeside town of Port Grimaud and the ruins of the medieval castle.
