Interactive discovery of a gendarmerie that has become legendary
The Musée de la Gendarmerie et du Cinéma de Saint-Tropez (Gendarmerie and Cinema Museum of Saint-Tropez ) offers a rich collection over 400 m². Touch screens and models line the tour, creating an interactive experience. Visitors can sit in vintage cars and discover various objects, as well as open drawers and touch furniture. The tour takes place on three levels. The first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions. The second floor retraces the history of the Gendarmerie Tropez and its building, highlighting the famous Gendarme à Saint-Tropez film series, from 1964 to 1982, starring Louis de Funès. Behind-the-scenes footage and the early days of cinema in Saint-Tropez are also revealed.

The Musée de la Gendarmerie et du Cinéma de Saint-Tropez is a unique cultural crossroads. The permanent exhibition features a rich collection, made up of items obtained through loans and acquisitions from enthusiasts and renowned organizations. Contributors include the prestigious Archives de Vincennes and the Cinémathèque Française in Paris. The Commission du Film du Var, the Société Nouvelle de Cinématographie and the Institut Lumière in Lyon also make valuable contributions. A special feature of the museum’s exhibition is the presence ofexclusive interviews with actors and witnesses to the shooting of emblematic films in Saint-Tropez. These interviews offer a unique and enriching perspective on the history of cinema in this emblematic town in the south of France.
